Description of the Project
On April 08th to 17th, 2005 this youth exchange unites 48 young people from the following 6 countries in Friedrichshafen in South Germany in a European gypsy theatre roject: Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Rumania, Spain. Half of the participants from every country are of the gypsy ethnic origen. During this time they will participate in a theatre project as a part of the international amateur theatre festival THEATERTAGE AM SEE e.V.
Artistic traditions of the participating countries meet aesthetic forms of expression of the gypsy culture. With methods of art, music, dance and theatre there will take place an intercultural exchange. The play which will have been developed by the creativity of the young people, will be performed at the the Theatre Festival.
The exchange shall bring together young people from different countries and different cultures and shall lead to a deeper understanding of European Gypsy cultures. Non-verbal forms of expression of theatre will solve and overcome language problems and will give a new feeling of integration and communication. One of the main objectives of the project is to experience the unifying and intensive living, working and celebrating with one another in the frame of the youth exchange and also in the atmosphere of the biggest educational festival of European amateur theatre.
